Jazz from Across the Pond
The Choral Society of Pensacola presents jazz from both sides of the Atlantic with the Guffman Trio.
The Choral Society of Pensacola presents jazz from both sides of the Atlantic. The program showcases music by two British composers -- George Shearing's Songs and Sonnets and Bob Chilcott's A Little Jazz Mass -- and also features some jazz from the USA --songs by Billy Strayhorn, Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer, and Matt Dennis and Tom Adair. A 100-voice chorus, conducted by artistic director Peter Steenblik, will perform with the acclaimed Guffman Trio, who'll shine in a set of their own.
