New concert video of “3 Water Songs” by David Avshalomov

I hope you will review this candid concert video of the excellent second-night co-premiere of my new tryptich, "Three Water Songs," performed by Ember Choral Arts under Deborah Simpkin King, co-commissioner of the work.

I recommend earphones to hear the lyrics best, as the acoustic is quite wet.

The voicing is SATB with divisi, and optional nonpitched percussion.

Texts:

"All Day I Hear the Voice of Waters" by James Joyce. Setting is a gloomy slow art folio in somewhat traditional style.

"Waterfall at Lu-Shan" by Li Po. An impressionistic setting of a brilliant glimpse of a famous waterfall, with a glorious ending.

"GPGP (The Great Pacific Garbage Patch)" by the composer. A sardonic scolding rant about a real problem. Some modernist touches (clusters). Like a sound track with narration for a creepy short documentary video. Jarring ending.

Score, notes, and lyrics are on my website, www.davidavshalomov.com on the Works/Choral page.
