FOR RELEASE: June 21, 2004 CONTACT: Robin Perry Allen, Director of Communications Chorus America is one of eight leading nonprofit music organizations participating in the creation and launch of a new website with access to extensive resources about music. The site, www.MusicVista.org, was publicly launched in June 2004 and includes materials from Chorus America, American Composers Forum, American Music Center, American Symphony Orchestra League, Association of Performing Arts Presenters, Chamber Music America, Meet the Composer, and Opera America. Development of the website was made possible with funds from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. The site was created as a "portal" to the most critical resources developed by each of the eight organizations so that users can survey the array of available data from just one website, making the search for pertinent information faster and more efficient. The resources are organized into the following areas: Public Policy and Advocacy, Stories and Features, Materials and Resources, Grants and Opportunities, Careers and Training, and Concerts and Performances. Each organization will continually update the site with new resources as they are developed. The project is a cooperative venture of the National Music Coalition, eight of the nation's leading national service organizations. The site was developed by Larry R. Larson and Associates, a firm that specializes in working with arts organizations seeking to use technology to create new ways of reaching and serving audiences. Mr. Larson led a public demonstration of www.MusicVista.org at the first National Performing Arts Convention in Pittsburgh, June 12. Chorus America serves professional, volunteer, children/youth, and symphony/opera chorus in North America. To accomplish its mission of strengthening choruses, Chorus America provides valuable information and greater public recognition through its publications, website, conferences, consulting, management and conductor training programs, industry surveys, peer networking, and an extensive awards program.
