Duties and responsibilities: The Managing Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the administrative management of the organization. The Managing Director works in partnership with the Artistic Director. § Manage all non-musical details for self-produced concert season
§ Working with the Artistic Director and the Board, act as a liaison with outside organizations to develop opportunities and engagements for the chorus
§ Supervise non-musical details for all rehearsals and performances
§ Manage contracts, and execution of collaborative performances with outside organizations
§ Facilitate communication among all constituencies of the organization through all appropriate means
§ Oversee development and deployment of volunteer resources with the support of the Administrator of Volunteers Finance:
§ Responsible for budget development, ticket sales administration, fiscal policy implementation and maintenance of financial records
§ Work with the Artistic Director and Board to determine costs and prepare contracts for the concert season Marketing:
§ Oversee implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan, including advertising, press releases, calendar listings, brochures, web promotions, mailing lists, and community outreach
§ Aid in developing the Board’s vision for an educational outreach program and support the activities of the education outreach coordinator § Oversee and monitor database operations Development:
§ Provide operational and tactical support to Development Director for all activities related to development and fundraising
§ Actively support Auction Chairperson in the planning and execution of Choral Arts’ annual fundraiser.

Requirements:

§ Commitment to Choral Arts’ mission and long-range goals
§ At least one year management experience in Performing Arts management in non-profit, public or private sector or at least three years’ related volunteer experience
§ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with and coordinate with the Board, the Artistic Director, volunteers and membership
§ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including media and community relations
§ Financial acumen including budgeting and fiscal management
§ Ability to work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and QuickBooks (preferred, not required)
§ Bachelor’s degree, relevant post-baccalaureate education or professional development preferred

Compensation: Based upon the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience. Position is part-time contract.

Chorus/organization description: Choral Arts is a Seattle-based professional-level chamber chorus of 24-30 singers. Since its inception in January of 1993, Choral Arts has received both local and international acclaim for their mastery of style, language, and genre. The ensemble performs up to four concert series each season in Seattle and Tacoma. Guest appearances have included: Mark Morris Dance Company, International Music Festival of Seattle, Northwest Sinfonietta’s 5th Anniversary Gala Concert, Arts West Music Series, Puget Sound Music Society, and Seattle Symphony’s Christmas Singalong Concert at Benaroya Hall. The choir participated in the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf Germany, where they placed fourth overall out of 300 international choirs and received a special recognition award. Choral Arts has three recordings available through the Loft/Gothic label, with plans for a fourth to be completed in spring or 2009.
