Chorus/organization name: Raleigh Boychoir Category: Artistic Duties and responsibilities: To educate and train boys in the art of singing, performing the finest music in the boychoir tradition. To develop character, discipline, leadership, good manners, and a strong commitment to excellence. To set the artistic direction and programming. To conduct two or more choirs within this organization. To audition all prospective choristers. Requirements: An artistic vision Diverse performance repertoire Proven ability to instruct boys Bachelor degree in music preferred Compensation: Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Chorus/organization description: The Raleigh Boychoir has an established tradition of performing a demanding repertoire of sacred and secular classics, as well as selections from musical theater and a rich assortment of patriotic and folk music. Programs exhibit multicultural depth, encompassing compositions in numerous languages and with a range of cultural and religious themes. The Choir performs up to sixteen public performances each season in many venues locally and throughout the world. Initially, new choristers are placed in the Training Choir to assess their musical ability. Choristers progress from Training Choir to Resident Choir before entering a Performing Choir, either Choir I or Choir II. Each choir rehearses for 90 minutes weekly. Performing Choirs attend additional Saturday rehearsals twice per month and immediately prior to each performance. Choristers who are selected to perform in the Millennium Singers, the Choir’s premier ensemble, rehearse for an additional hour on Saturdays and at other times as needed.
