Chorus/organization name: Portland Boychoir and Ovation! Category: Artistic Duties and responsibilities: 1. Programming, scheduling for each of our ensembles, including maintaining a music education program to benefit our members, assisted by the Operations Mgr. 2. Maintain strong relationships with our members, families, staff and Board. With Operations Mgr, the Artistic Director must provide regular communication to constituents. 3. Actively participate with Board in promoting and developing our organization. AD will serve as the public voice of the organization and, with support of the Board, will be actively involved in financial development. 4. Actively recruit new members. AD must maintain strong relationships with the local music community, elementary school teachers, other musicians and musical organizations. Requirements: 1. Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Ed. (or commensurate professional experience.) Prior experience working with children preferred. 2. Passion for working with young people, and commitment to instilling a love for music and desire for artistic excellence. Must be able to work with children across the full range of ages and music capabilities, with a strong knowledge of vocal production, vocal/choral technique and pedagogy. Keyboard skills are an advantage. (Regular accomopanist is available when needed.) 3. Strong and dynamic leader, with the ability to manage an artistic staff and work in partnership with consitutents and Board of Dir. 4. Commitment to growing our program, including working to recruit new members and extending program outreach. Candidate must be able, working with our Board, to promote our program to potential financial donors. Compensation: Send salary requirements. Benefits: Paid vacation; tuition and travel to professional conferences approved by the Board of Directors. Chorus/organization description: Originally founded in 1993, Portland Boychoir became an independent non-profit org. in 2003 as an all-boys music education and performing choir. A small ensemble of girls was added in 2005, evolving as a mixed voice high school age performing group now known as Ovation! We draw from a metropolitan area of 2 million, and serve a diverse population of children ages 6-18. Including training programs, the organization is currently comprised of 50 choristers. Programs offered include: Portland Boychoir (unchanged voices age 9-14); Ovation! (mixed gender performance group age 14-18); Boys Prep Choir (ages 6-8); Boys Intermediate (ages 8-12); Ovation! Girls Training (ages 11-14).
